Ever wonder what happens in the studio in between business portraits and product shots?
Lots of creative fun!
Yesterday, I had some time to work on my 2015 Holiday Greeting Photo. I had a crazy idea, and wasn’t sure how I was going to pull it off. I came to the studio with my skis and the brightest ski outfit I could dig out of my closet. Scott from Art Ink Print asked what I was up to and when I told him, he laughed and said I should make a video of what I was doing… so I did!
It took me about a half an hour to get the shot once I had the lights all set up. It was a pretty ridiculous sight…from fiddling with my bindings (which haven’t been used since last season), to my batteries dying in my pocket wizards mid-shoot – it was more or less a gong show. But hey – I got the shot! After going back and forth to the computer to check out my form… I eventually figured out how to look like I was skiing. I had my timer set for a 30 second delay (long enough to get my boots on and lay down), and then had the camera take 9 photos in 3 second intervals. It took 4 or 5 takes before it all came together.
Yiooot! If only I could figure out how to get paid for this stuff!
