Kootenay Hat Trick Sunday, March 21, 2010
Sometimes it’s fun to push it. It is a beautiful season right now in the Kootenay’s. You have your choice of sport. Every day is filled with questions…should I get a few more ski days in? Should I hike? Should I bike?
The answer today was “yes”. Let’s do it…ALL! The plan was made. 9:30 start. 2 hour return trip to pulpit and back. Eat a delicious brunch. Drive to the hill…get a few runs in and be back in time to ride out at Kokanee Glacier before the sun set.
Finish the day off with some yoga and a hot tub…and there you have it…the Kootenay Hat Trick.

Everything a girl could need for a weekend of fun.

The light was a bit flat and boring today and everything is brown…so I decided to challenge myself a bit and shoot everything with my 17-40mm F4 lens and try to create a feeling of movement.

10:30 this morning…overlooking Nelson. We hung out long enough to have a few laughs and help Jana find her house. It’s kinda the thing to do…hike pulpit and point out your house to all your friends.

Heather’s fast. The two of us gobbled up a delicious breakfast after pulpit and headed to White Water Ski Resort. Conditions weren’t the greatest…but that’s okay. Today was really about pushing it…and going fast. We got our runs in and headed back to town for a ride.

So after hiking and skiing, we were both pretty stoked with ourselves when we successfully rode our bikes up to the trailhead….I’ll be honest…there was a moment where I thought I would puke…but thankfully the trail flattened out long enough for me to pull it together.

I know this shot isn’t great…but I threw it in because this was the highlight of my day. Laying on the ground and getting pelted in the face with cold muddy water….had me rolling around, laughing uncontrollably. If you’re in need of a good laugh, I would recommend it.

Lookin’ good sista! I look forward to later in the season, when my friends have gotten a bit of sun, and I no longer have to spend an hour in post burning in their skin!

Sometimes my curiosity gets the best of me. “I wonder if I can ride this section with one hand, and shoot myself at the same time”. The answer was no.

The hat trick ends as it should. In a hot tub overlooking town, the lake and the mountains. Life is good!
