What if we all took ourselves a little less seriously

This past Saturday night, with the help of 18 funny humans, we played a prank on 80 of our friends here Nelson.

The 18 people were instructed to invite their friends to an art exhibition on March 2nd, where a piece of art “they had commissioned” would be unveiled.

They weren’t allowed to talk about the subject matter of the photographs. And they weren’t allowed to talk to anyone else (even each other) about their involvement in the exhibition.

I did my best to make the unveiling sound as bougie as possible: wine, cheese, a dress code, a speech…and the only information they had was this:

[suit.a.ble] right for someone

A photographic exhibition exploring the need to express the human spirit in a post modern world

The unveiling went off without a hitch and the audience’s reaction was everything I hoped for. Most people had expected to see landscape photography!

The following pages will take you through the exhibition, absurd photograph by photograph of people taking themselves way too seriously, in tracksuits…with the remarkable writing by Cam Whitehead.

Remember life is short. Try to measure success on experiences of joy, laughter and sharing ridiculous times with good humans.

We’re all still giggling…
